Suppose the date of birth is March 15, 2000 and the age-on date is September 4, 2026. The birthday has already occurred in 2026. The completed age is 26 years. From March 15 to September 4 is five complete months plus 20 days, so the chronological age is 26 years, 5 months, and 20 days.
If the age-on date changes to March 14, 2026, the person has not yet reached the March 15 birthday. The completed age is therefore 25 years, 11 months, and 27 days. This demonstrates why subtracting 2000 from 2026 is not always sufficient.
